Winning raffle tickets for the Lions Club were drawn by a guest speaker at the latest meeting of the club.
Marilyn and Ron Green were the winners of the Yukon 5 quart cold locker donated by the club. Gerald Fagan was the winner of the Echo Curved Shaft Weed Eater, donated by Burris Outdoor Equipment in Corrigan. Lee Cox was the winner of the Stihl gas powered blower donated by Pikes Saw and Tool in Nacogdoches.
The Lions would like to thank those businesses that donated items for the raffle, and those who purchased tickets. The monies earned in this raffle go directly to projects the Lions perform for the community. Your continued support is appreciated.
The Lions have several ongoing projects that benefit the community. We collect used eye-glasses for re-cycling, collect non-perishable items for the Food Bank, collect used stamps for the Wounded Warriors, provide scholarships to local students, provide free eye-screenings yearly for adults, provide pediatric eye-screening for Corrigan Primary School, and send children to the Texas Lions Camp. Look for eye-glass boxes around town, and give your used stamps and non-perishable items to a Lions Club member. Your support is much appreciated. Contact President Joe Sedtal if you have any questions about donations.
The Corrigan Lions meet at the Senior Nutrition Center on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. The center was recently moved to Ben Franklin Street. Members meet at 6:30 p.m. for a meal and fellowship, which is usually followed by a program or business meeting. Anyone is welcome to visit and join us in our service. The Lions Club motto is "We Serve".
